The checkpoint is now available as a fast travel point. The MMU is now a safe location, with a bed where you can rest and pass time, and a gun locker where you can change you weapon loadout. With the power on, enter the MMU and apply the NERO Injector to secure the location. Before starting the generator, disconnect any speakers in the area, as the sound they produce when the power is on will attract Freakers. Some locations also require locating and installing a breaker.
You will have to locate the generator, then find fuel for it and fill it up. To unlock the MMU you must power it up by starting a generator. They contain a locked Mobile Medical Unit, or MMU. Melee Weapons are not owned, and therefore are not stored in weapons lockers. You can repair melee weapons, at the expense of Scrap, once you acquire the skill Field Repairs. Get in the habit of replacing your melee weapon often. Each melee weapon you find will be at 100%. If it goes to zero, the weapon will break and you will have no melee weapon. This is the remaining life of that weapon. The weapon wheel and the Inventory/Gear screen shows a percentage for your melee weapon. Pay attention to the remaining life of your melee weapon. Using melee weapons will wear them out quickly. When you interact with a found weapon, a comparison of its stats versus the weapon you are currently carrying will be displayed. To acquire one, simply interact with it to pick it up. Fortunately, they are plentiful and easy to obtain. Deacon will not be carrying a melee weapon when the game begins.
