You go from one fight to another in a land devoid of not only life but also side quests, hunting, and crafting. Colossus is quiet, contemplative, and empty, and all of those elements fit together to support one another. Sony couldn’t make a game like Shadow of the Colossus today, and it doesn’t. We now know we shouldn’t kill the colossi, and we now know that no one ever made games this way again. But more than anything, it’s tragic to go back because now we know better. Save to the virtual memory card in every game if you don’t want to start from scratch after every update.So what is like going back to this masterpiece? It is still a technical marvel even if Bluepoint did blunt the style of the original director, Fumito Ueda. The game does support save states, but updates tend to wipe them.Still, it’s worth experimenting with this option if your preferred game has some headroom for a higher resolution.



Fortunately, the developer includes several features and offers plenty of tips. It doesn’t help that hundreds of phone models and dozens of processors are out there. Being an advanced PS2 emulator, AetherSX2 can be a major challenge for smartphones.
